The global economic crisis and Georgia
Аннотация
In conditions when overcoming poverty has become the number one problem in the world and international economic organizations are already openly expressing concern about the current crisis, Georgia does not notice anything and stubbornly claims that the country's economy is developing at an unprecedented pace. How does a country oriented on imports, with an absolutely unprotected domestic market, manage to put on the mask of economic success in the conditions of the actual absence of industry, and how realistic are the statistics according to which Georgia has left behind even the most European countries in terms of the degree of economic freedom? These and other issues, including the possible scale of the impact of the global economic crisis on the Georgian economy and the internal factors contributing to its deepening, were discussed by experts participating in the "Round Table" gathered at the office of the International Finance Corporation, which was held at the initiative of the magazine "Business and Legislation", and relevant recommendations were developed.
The "round table" was chaired by Professor Iakob Meskhia, a member of the editorial board of the journal "Business and Legislation", Doctor of Economic Sciences.
