Fifteen Billion Dollar Miser
Abstract
Honore de Balzac's Gobseck was recognized as a world classic example of miserliness. We also had his counterpart in Georgia in the form of Lavrenti Ardaziani's Solomon Isakich Mejghanuashvili. But with Wall Streeter Hattie Green, both are fictional. This woman amassed 15 billion dollars during her 82 years of life, and before her death, she had a black day at Merdzeve because of a few pence.
